Iran and Saudi Arabia have agreed to restore diplomatic ties and reopen their embassies within two months after talks in Beijing, China.
Web Desk: According to the World News Agency, during the talks in Beijing, the Chinese capital, Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to restore diplomatic relations, respect each other’s state sovereignty and agree not to interfere in internal affairs.
The official news agencies of the two countries have also confirmed the agreement on the restoration of diplomatic relations.
The joint statement said Saudi Arabia and Iran have agreed to activate a 2001 security cooperation agreement, after which the two countries will open embassies in each other’s capitals within two months.
Al Jazeera reporter Ali Hashim has claimed that meetings between high-level officials from Saudi Arabia and Iran have taken place in Baghdad for the past two years, stalling during Iraq’s 2021 elections.
However, the telephone conversation continued and now the meeting in China turned out to be decisive.
