ISLAMABAD: Nepra has expressed reservations over the introduction of an additional charge of 3.82 per unit in the electricity tariff. In Nepra, the request of the federal government to introduce an additional charge of Rs 3.82 per unit in the electricity tariff was heard. Power Division officials took a stand that the debt of Power Holding Company is 800 billion rupees. The amount is not recovered from the already imposed surcharge of 0.43 per unit, hence it has been decided to impose an additional surcharge of 3.39 units. The surcharge will be levied from March to June 2023. Chairman Nepra asked why the government has come to Nepra if it can impose surcharges itself. Those who have paid the bill are charged 3.39 paise and those who have not paid the bill are still smiling.
