A Newmarket man faces several charges following a serious assault and investigation.
York Regional Police say officers responded to an armed call at a parking lot in the Yonke Street and Mulak Drive area just before 8 a.m. Monday.
Authorities say they found a 46-year-old man with minor injuries who was allegedly hit in the head by a handgun. He was treated at the scene.
Police say the suspect left before officers arrived, but they quickly identified him and obtained an order to search his home.
Authorities say they seized a handgun, drugs and cash and arrested a 27-year-old man during a search.
The defendant faces multiple firearms and drug charges, and possession of property acquired under the offense for less than $ 5,000.
