M. ta. Special Representative, Mumbai:
There are signs of a rift between the parties in the state government, which has maintained a united front even after the Shiv Sena revolt. Reliable sources said the proposal to rename Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar would come up in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday and the Congress party would oppose it. If this happens, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is likely to resign on Wednesday.
Transport Minister Anil Parab raised this issue in the cabinet meeting and directed to convene the cabinet meeting again on Wednesday. After this, senior Congress leaders discussed this issue with the Delhi High Command. The party is understood to have directed him to oppose the name change. According to sources, there is a bigger political strategy behind this and Thackeray is also likely to join hands with the MLAs of his party, which shows that he has differences with the Congress party. If this happens, then again the coalition government will come to power in the state and Devendra Fadnavis will be the Chief Minister. Uddhav Thackeray will be seen in the role of Shiv Sena party chief.
