Heavy rains continue in the capital Bhopal. It rained intermittently throughout the day on Friday, while moderate to heavy rain may also occur on Saturday. In such a situation, not only will the rainfall figures improve, but the water in the water bodies will also increase. There is a yellow warning for heavy rain in Sehore today. Due to this, water is expected to increase in Bada Talab, Kolar, Kaliyasot and Kerava Dam.

Till Friday evening, 2 inches of water had rained in Bhopal district. Because of this, the water in Bada Talab, the lifeline of the city, rose. In the evening the level reached 1664.35 feet. There has been a rise of 0.20 feet of water. Now there is less than two and a half feet of space. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be heavy rain in Sehore on Saturday. This will bring water into the Kolans River and the inflow to Bada Talab will increase. Bhopal has received 25.71 inches of rain so far. However, 35.65 inches of rain should have fallen. The overall figure is 28% behind this.

5.27 inches of rain in September
In the last 15 days, Bhopal has received 5.27 inches of rain, while the normal rainfall for September is 6.91 inches. In such a situation, Bhopal is only 1.64 inches behind Kota for September. Then rain is expected until September 25. In such a situation, the number can go forward.

Quota not met 6 times in 11 years
If we talk about the last 11 years, it happened 6 times when the quota of rain was not met in September. The heaviest rainfall occurred in 2019. More than 22 inches of rain fell in just one month, while the lowest rainfall was just 1.65 inches in 2013. Last year, 8.32 inches of water had fallen, while this year there had been 5, 27 inches of water from September 1st to 15th. 1.64 inches more water is needed to meet the September quota.

Large dam, the water increased in the Kolar-Kaliasot dam

  • big pond: Its water holding capacity is 1666.80 feet. Currently it has 1664.15 feet of water. 2.65 feet of water is still needed to fill it completely. Last time, the large dam was filled in July. There was water in the pond last Thursday. Water will increase on Friday as well.
  • Kolar Ladies: Its water level is 1516.40 feet. Currently it has 1504.56 feet of water. Consequently, it is 12 feet empty. Kolar Dam supplies water to 40% of Bhopal city. The water level in Kolar Dam increased marginally due to the ongoing rain since Thursday evening. There was an increase on Friday as well.
  • Kerava Dam: So far, 1666.89 feet of water has reached the total 1673 feet Kerava Dam. The gates of the dam have not been opened even once during this monsoon season, while all the gates were opened in July last year.
  • Kaliyasot Ladies: The water level in the dam is 1651.08 feet. The total water holding capacity of the dam is 1659 feet. Because of this, the pond is still 9 feet empty. When the gates of Bada Talab are opened, water will flow into Kaliyasot Dam and the gates will be opened. The water in the pond has increased due to the rain on Friday.
