Now glory to India in boxing! Another medal confirmed, after Amit-Jasmin, Sagar in the semi-finals | Pro IQRA News

Pro IQRA News Updates.

Earlier, former world No. 1 Amit reached the semi-finals of the men’s flyweight 51kg event after defeating young Scottish boxer Lennon Mulligan 5-0 in the quarter-finals at the Exhibition Center in Solihull. Amit had to settle for a silver medal at Gold Coast 2018. Former Asian Games champion and World Championship silver medalist Pangal took some time to put the pressure on his opponent but the young Scotsman came with a firm mind.

However, in the round of 16, the Indian boxer defeated Namri Beri from Vanuatu by unanimous decision. After the win, Amit said, “After this performance, I am especially confident of winning the gold medal. I had never raced him so I didn’t know much about him, but I had a strategy. I was hit and I moved. I feel better because I know I can win every match.”

In the Birmingham 2022 semi-final, 26-year-old Pangal will face Zambia’s Patrick Chinyamba, who defeated Australia’s Alex Winwood in the last eight clash. Meanwhile, in the women’s 60kg lightweight category, India’s Jasmin beat New Zealand’s Troy Garten 4-1 to reach the last four and secure a spot on the CWG 2022 podium.
