The Edmonton Oilers fans are doing everything they can to show their support for the team before winning the 7th game.
“Man, I’m praying,” Ashley Hodgson said. “Tonight we (all) are praying.”
The feeling shared while many fans across the city are waiting to share the excitement of Game7.
“I woke up nervous this morning,” Dustin Kunel told CTV News Edmonton.
“I played sports, but it’s crazy. How can the whole city feel the tense energy, everyone is excited.”
Some fans tried to find last-minute flags, jerseys and other team-branded items in favor of the Oilers.
Tanya Hamilton with United Sport and Bicycle says, “These playoffs have been bringing fans out for decades and all years.
“Elders (fans) have been changing their jerseys since the 1990s,” Hamilton added. “Young children are coming to us. They are everywhere – wearing wigs.
“We’re having a lot of fun here today.”
7Eighty Automotive used free oils car decals for fan vehicles.
“If we build it, we’re going to move on,” owner Adam Hallet said. “We’re really planning some things when it comes to the second round. We’m going to offer some oiller caps.
“We’ve been giving away gift cards at watch parties, making free oil changes, and tonight there’s a watch party in downtown that we’ll be hosting in conjunction with Aulernation.”
Whether fans are watching Rogers Place or watching from home, fans can’t wait to see what this series will look like.
“If we win tonight, I’m going to be so excited, I’m going to be cheering in the streets,” said 10 – year – old Sawyer Steves.
“I think we’re going to pull it off tonight,” Kunal said. “I predict a 5-2 win.”
