RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said the central bank will take action against regulated entities after a comprehensive assessment.
Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das on Monday said there was “almost no room” to review the action against Paytm Payments Bank.
In a major action against Paytm Payments Bank (PPBL) on January 31, the RBI directed it to stop accepting or making deposits in any customer accounts, wallets, FASTTags and other mediums after February 29.
Speaking to reporters in the national capital on Monday, Das said there was “not an iota of room” to consider action against Paytm Payments Bank.
He said the RBI would take action against regulated entities only after a comprehensive assessment.
While stressing that the RBI will support the fintech sector, Das is also committed to protecting the interests of customers as well as ensuring financial stability.
The central bank is expected to release a set of frequently asked questions on the Paytm issue soon.
