Mumbai – On Tuesday, the rupee had lost 2 paise to close at 78 against the US dollar. Oil prices rose 1 per cent in early trade. Foreign investors sold Rs 1,217 crore in the last trading session. Local investors bought shares worth Rs 2,093 crore.

Major Indian indices on Tuesday gained some strength on positive global cues. BSE Sensex was trading with gains at 10:35 am. On Monday, it was up 1.46% at 52,351.78. Shares of all 30 Sensex companies were trading with gains. Among them, Titan Company, State Bank of India and HCL Technologies were the biggest gainers. Shares of Titan jumped over 5% and so did its trading volume. Among the broader market indices, BSE Midcap was up 1.81% at 21,378.61. The Smallcap index rose 2.24% to 23,946.73.

The Nifty 50 index rose 1.55% to 15,588.40. Titan Company Limited, Hindalco Industries Limited, Tata Motors, JSW Steel and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone were the gainers in the Nifty index. BSE Consumer Goods was the best performing sectoral index. In the morning session, all sectoral indices were up. Shares of Titan, Dixon Technologies and Voltas Ltd rose significantly.

Investors should keep an eye on the list of few penny stocks that have been in the upper circuit of the stock market, trading higher since Tuesday morning’s session.
