It was launched by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) at an event organized to mark its 25th anniversary.

This 5G test has been developed by 11 Indian institutes with 8 IITs in the country under the leadership of IIT Madras. It also includes IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IISC Bangalore, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER) and Center of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT).

What is 5G Testbed?

Some of you would like to know what is this 5G testbed? Basically, consider the 5G trial where startups and other Indian industry companies can test out their products, prototypes, solutions and algorithms to get 5G connectivity on 5G networks.

These 5G test beds have been built by about 300 engineers and 40 scientists from Indian institutions, where the facility of 5G testing will be available till the end. About Rs 220 crore has been spent to build this 5G test bed.

All devices connected to the 5G network will be present at these test locations, with reported speeds of up to 40 Gbps available. These test beds will be available at 5 different locations.

Why 5G Test Bed?

In fact, according to TRAI, many Indian startups have to travel abroad to test their products, apps, etc. on 5G mobile networks because testing facilities are not present in the country. And this is a big reason for starting test beds.

This time PM Modi said;

“I invite my young friends, researchers and companies to use this 5G testing facility.”

Let us know whether this 5G test bed is actually a project of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), which has released funds for it.
