Power Ministry issued guidelines for charging
The Union Power Ministry has issued revised consolidated guidelines and standards for charging infrastructure for Electric Vehicles (EVs) on January 14, 2022, the Power Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

Guidelines issued for accessible and cheap charging
The objective of these guidelines is to promote safe, reliable, accessible and cost-effective charging infrastructure, so that the country can rapidly adopt electric vehicles, the statement said.

According to the statement, any person or entity may set up public charging stations without any license requirement, provided such stations meet technical as well as safety and performance standards and protocols.

In order to make charging stations economically viable in the period of growth of electric vehicles, the land used for this has been made a revenue sharing model.

Land held by Government/Public units will be given to public/government units for setting up Public Charging Stations (PCS) on revenue sharing model basis. Under this, the agency owning the land will be paid a fixed rate of Re 1/kWh. PCS will make this payment on quarterly basis. The Model Revenue Sharing Agreement has been included in the guidelines.
