Peshawar Zalmi defeated Lahore Qalandars by 35 runs in the 23rd match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 8 by displaying a brilliant performance.

Lahore Qalandar’s team was dismissed by scoring 172 runs in reply of 207 runs. Peshawar’s win knocked Quetta Gladiators out of the play-off race.
In the match played in Rawalpindi, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to bat first.
Captain Babar Azam and young Saeem Ayub played aggressively from the start and put on a partnership of 107 runs for the first wicket, the young batsman Saeem Ayub scored 68 runs off 36 balls which included 8 fours and 3 sixes.
Captain Babar Azam scored 50 runs off 41 balls, while among others players Muhammad Haris 9, Tom Cadmore 36, Haseebullah Khan 12, Aamir Jamal 5 while Azmat Umarzai and Wahab Riaz lost wickets without scoring any runs.
Shaheen Afridi of Lahore Qalandars led 4, Haris Rauf, Rashid Khan and Zaman Khan 2, 2 players to the pavilion.
Lahore Qalandar’s top order proved to be a wall of sand and Chavez Irfan 0, Fakhar Zaman 11, Abdullah Shafiq 7 and Sam Billings were out for nil.
Hussain Talat and Shaheen Shah Afridi performed well scoring 63 and 52 runs respectively.
On behalf of Zalmi, Arshad Iqbal and Wahab Riaz took three wickets each.
It should be noted that Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators have been eliminated from the playoff stage of PSL 8.
