ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has approached the Supreme Court seeking approval of the decree on Punjab elections.
In light of the Supreme Court order, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf formally approached the Supreme Court regarding the issue of holding elections in Punjab on 14 May. An official petition was submitted to the Supreme Court by the Tehreek-e-Insaf negotiation team. The Supreme Court has been asked to implement the April 4 decree regarding the Punjab elections.
In the petition filed by PTI, it is said that in the light of the honorable court’s order, elections should be held in Punjab on May 14. In its decision of April 19, the Supreme Court suggested that an action plan be drawn up to conduct elections through negotiations between political parties.
It has been stated in the petition that Tehreek-e-Insaf constituted a special negotiation committee in the light of the assurance given in the court, People’s Party, PML-N, MQM and Q-League which are part of PDM alliance also nominated their representatives It consisted of Qamar and other.
According to the petition filed, the negotiating teams of Tehreek-e-Insaf and PDM Ittihad held bona fide talks on April 27, 28 and May 2. However, understanding that negotiations between political parties are important and resolving all political disputes is the political parties, the parties understand that they will negotiate in good faith and try to find a solution that is beneficial to the people and the constitution. To the extent that the law allows is the parties agree that negotiations should not be used as delaying tactics. The parties also agree that the Supreme Court’s ruling on this discussion on April 4 will have no effect until an agreement is reached between the two within constitutional limits and implemented.
PTI has said in the petition that Tehreek-e-Insaf initially believed that the assembly elections would be held within 90 days, the honorable court has fixed the date of May 14 for Punjab elections, holding the elections on May 14 is constitutional. is a demand which cannot be changed by the views of the parties, in this regard the PDM alliance was also urged to follow the constitution and implement the Supreme Court order regarding the conduct of Punjab elections on May 14.
According to the petition, the PDM alliance was also asked to hold the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly elections. Go ahead, taking into account the detailed discussion and the views of the negotiating committee of PDM alliance, Tehreek-e-Insaf made the following proposal regarding one-day elections across the country. Submitted, Tehreek-e-Insaf is ready for same-day elections provided the National Assembly, Sindh and Balochistan is dissolved by May 14. To be done during the second week of July.
In the petition, it was said that constitutional protection should be given to the elections in Punjab and Pakhtunkhwa after 90 days. To give constitutional protection to the delay of the elections, the Tehreek-e-Insaf members will return to the National Assembly and the political parties. A one-time effect of the constitutional amendment will be done by mutual consent, all parties will accept the results of the election, a written agreement based on these points will be made between the two parties, and it will be submitted to the Supreme Court for implementation.
According to the request of PTI, the PDM alliance did not agree to our proposals, according to the PDM alliance, the national and Sindh and Balochistan provincial assemblies will be dissolved on July 30. Elections to Provincial Assemblies will be held simultaneously in the first week of October within 90 days of the dissolution of the Assemblies.
The PTI in the petition has requested the Hon’ble Court to see to the implementation of its April 4 order regarding the Punjab elections.
