Mithilesh Kumar was elected to the Lok Sabha from Shahjahanpur. He contested the 2009 elections from the SP. He has also been an independent once and MLA from SP twice.
K. Laxman is the national president of BJP’s OBC Front. In this way BJP has announced the names of eight candidates from Uttar Pradesh.
The BJP had on Sunday announced the names of six candidates from Uttar Pradesh. Among them was Agarwal, who gave up his seat for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly from Gorakhpur since 2002. Laxmikant Bajpai, Surendra Singh Nagar, Baburam Nishad, Darshan Singh and Sangeeta Yadav were announced along with Agarwal.
The BJP has a total of 273 allies. They can select all the candidates. SP has 125 votes. They can choose three MPs. There are total 31 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. Elections are being held on 11 seats.
Today is the last date for filing nominations for Rajya Sabha. Voting ends on June 10. The last date of application is 1st June and the withdrawal date is 3rd June. Counting of votes will take place on June 10.
