The Regina Police Service (RPS) recovered a shotgun during a traffic stop at 3:00 a.m. Friday. Three youths under the age of 17 were involved in the incident.

Patrol officers stopped a vehicle in area 3rd Avenue and Cornet Street, ”a police statement said. “One of the passengers in the vehicle gave a false name to the police. As the officer approached the vehicle, he saw a shotgun on the front passenger side of the car. It was confirmed that the object was a working gun. Fortunately, there were no ammunition with the gun.
Due to the Juvenile Justice Act, the names of the suspects could not be named. A 15-year-old man has been arrested for violating a curfew and a gun ban. He appeared in his first court on Friday afternoon at 2:00 pm in connection with the allegations in Youth Court.

Police also arrested a 15-year-old woman and a 17-year-old man who were in the vehicle.
A 17-year-old man has been charged with violating a gun ban and storing unsecured firearms. He appeared in his first court on Friday afternoon at 2:00 pm in connection with the allegations in Youth Court.
The 15-year-old woman was only charged with violating her curfew order and was released with a future court date of August 11, 2022.
