Review Meeting on Public Sector Development Programs chaired by Shirin Mazari

Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shirin Mazari presided over a review meeting today regarding 13 released Public Sector Development Programs 2021-22 (PSDP) in the Ministry of Human Rights.

All Project Directors individually briefed the Minister for Human Rights on the physical and financial progress of their projects during the first and second quarters of 2021-22.

Notable achievements in this period include the successful opening of the Transgender Protection Center and the creation of a directory of transgender people, where one hundred (100) transgender people from Islamabad have already registered.

Establishment of Human Rights Information Management System (HRIMS) and liaison with regional offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan, which is almost complete.

Furthermore, under the Pilot Project for Inclusive Education, 391 children with disabilities were registered, 253 visually impaired people were diagnosed under the National Center for Special Education for the Visually Impaired, 187 visually impaired people were trained in e-learning and for the first time in Pakistan. Steps have been taken to introduce technologies such as Braille, state-of-the-art magnifiers and 3D printers.

In order to raise awareness, six training workshops were conducted in all four provinces for police officers on Zainab Alert Response and Recovery Act 2020 and Transgender Protection Act 2018.

Advertisements were placed in various newspapers to raise awareness about the rights of the weaker sections of society including women, children, transgender people and senior citizens.

In her concluding remarks, Ms. Shirin Mazari, Minister for Human Rights, while expressing satisfaction over the work done, also called for early completion of ongoing projects.
