Moscow: Russia has claimed that more than 70 attackers who entered Russia from the Ukrainian border have been killed in military operations.
International media quoted Russian officials as saying that gunmen from Ukraine entered the Belgorod region near the Russian border and battled with Russian forces for about 24 hours.
Russian officials said jets and artillery were deployed on Tuesday to destroy armed groups that entered Russia’s border region.
Officials also said nine villages on the Russian border were evacuated during the fighting. In total, more than 70 militants were killed, 4 armored vehicles and 5 pickup trucks were destroyed, after which the enemy was forced to retreat.
