Sambhajinagar: The name of Aurangabad city was changed to Sambhajinagar after the Maharashtra cabinet meeting on Wednesday (June 29) afternoon. Two more big decisions were taken.
Mumbai: Seats are shaking in Eknath Shinde’s rebellion. The question is whether the government will survive. Meanwhile, three major decisions were taken after the cabinet meeting on Wednesday (June 29) afternoon. The city of Aurangabad was renamed Sambhaji Nagar. Besides, the city of Osmanabad was renamed Dharashib. At the same time, it has been decided to name Nabi Mumbai Airport after DB Patil instead of Balasaheb Thackeray.
Uddhav Thackeray Shibir has filed a case in the Supreme Court challenging the Maharashtra governor’s confidence vote order. The cabinet meeting was held during the hearing of the case. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Cabinet Minister Chhagan Bhujbal are currently infected with the coronavirus. Both of them joined the meeting through virtual. Arriving at the state secretariat, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray first paid homage to the portraits of Chhatrapati Shivaji and BR Ambedkar. Then the meeting started. It was there that the decision was made to change these three important names.
In fact, there was also a cabinet meeting of the Maha Bikash Agari government on Tuesday. At that meeting, there was a demand to change the name of Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar. Transport Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray has demanded that Shibir leader Anil Parbai change the name of the historic city in central Maharashtra.
However, political analysts believe that the name change is accompanied by the ongoing political crisis. The BJP has long complained that the Shiv Sena is compromising with the core ideology of Hindutva. Recently, Eknath Shinde and the MLAs in his camp have revolted against the same allegation. It is believed that an attempt was made to change the name of this city in Maharashtra to Sambhaji, the son of the Maratha king and Chhatrapati Shivaji. The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb founded the city of Aurangabad in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. At the same time he ordered Sambhaji to be hanged.
It is learned that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray thanked his colleagues in the cabinet for their support for the last two and a half years. He lamented that although he got the support of NCP and Congress ministers, he did not get the support of his party’s MPs and ministers. After the meeting, Minister and Congress leader Sunil Kedar said, “Thackeray has always been respectful of others. He thanked the cabinet for their co-operation and said it would continue. Sunil Kedar further claimed that all the MLAs in the Assembly would vote for Uddhav Thackeray considering his leadership in the war against Kovid-19 despite his lack of administrative experience.
