Public health units in Eastern Ontario are issuing a severe heat warning for this weekend.

KFL & A Public Health has issued a notice saying Environment Canada has issued a heat alert for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Tamworth, Sydenham, South Frontenac and Napane.

Leeds Grenville Lanark Public Health has issued a heat warning for their area as well.

Health units say there will be high levels of heat and humidity over the next few days.

This heat is expected to exceed 30 degrees Celsius, as humidity levels push temperatures into the 40s.

Health units say that the elderly, young children and people with chronic diseases are most at risk during this extremely hot period.

They recommend minimal outdoor physical activity, frequent hydration, and take breaks in cooler areas.
