Even Hollywood A-listers like Sharon Stone aren’t safe from the occasional dangers of finding love online.
In an interview with The Times on Friday, the Basic Instinct actor confirmed that he has used dating apps to find potential romantic interests — and the results have been mixed at best.
One of the men Sharon met “turned out to be a heroin addict who, from the picture he sent me, had clearly injected 20,000 heroin,” she said.
“I tell the waiter: ‘I’ll drink a glass of water.’ He drank a cocktail: absinthe or something,” the Oscar nominee recalled of their meeting at the Bel-Air Hotel in Los Angeles. “And I said, ‘I’m sorry, I can’t stay.'”
Other dates, Sharon explained, were more successful.
“I was almost like a therapist,” she said. “Kim’s wife told him she wanted a divorce and they had two children. He was having a hard time processing it. And [the other] broke up with his girlfriend. She got pregnant and had an abortion instead of getting married… She still loved him very much and I helped her process it.
“It was very beneficial for both of us. I don’t know how to explain it.”
Unlike some other celebrities, Sharon doesn’t try to hide her identity when using apps, saying, “I’m just going to be myself. I can’t fake it.”
Sharon was married to producer Michael Greenburgh from 1984 to 1990 and to newspaper editor Phil Bronstein from 1998 to 2004.
Speaking to The Times, she said she has high hopes for 2024 when it comes to romance.
“This year I want to love – 100%,” he explained. As for the qualities she looks for in a future partner, she says, “You don’t look for a list, and then your list comes. That’s what people who don’t have relationships do. So that they can take comfort in their lack of relationships and feel that they are actively involved in what is happening in their lives.
It turns out that Sharon’s quest for love has already inspired one famous friend.
Actor Andy McDowell, who appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show last year, said Sharoan had already given him online dating advice.
“I reached out to Sharon Stone to tell her she was in Raya,” McDowell said. “Raya, this is what I want to do.
“She said she met two gay guys there and that’s what she got from Raya! But it still sounds kind of interesting. It could be fun.”
