At the world famous Shri Mahakaleshwar temple, the doors of the temple were opened at 3 am during the Bhasma Aarti early on Monday. After anointing Lord Mahakal with water, worship was done with Panchamrit made of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, honey, fruit juices. Baba Mahakal was divinely decorated with cannabis, sandalwood, dry fruits and jewellery.
Ashes were offered to Lord Mahakal after Tripund and Chandra were offered on the head, Lord Mahakal wore the silver crown of Sheshnag, silver mandala and garland of Rudraksh along with a garland of flowers made of fragrant flowers. Enjoyed fruit and sweets.
A large number of devotees participated in the Bhasma Aarti and received the blessings of Baba Mahakal. Bhasma was offered to Lord Mahakal on behalf of Maha Nirvani Akhara. It is believed that after offering ashes God appears in formless form.
