After being released on bail on December 15, 2020, the victim’s family together with his lawyers they appealed for a new appeal on the case, situation that the Eighth Judge of the Amparo District in criminal matters of the state of Jalisco accepted and therefore summoned a new trial.

Notably Maleck was detained for a year and six months, from June 2019 to December 2020 and was released under a bond of 3 million pesos, after receiving a sentence of 3 years and 8 months.
