Karachi: Sugar became more expensive again

The price of sugar ex-mills in Karachi, the country’s largest city, has started rising again after falling to Rs 100.

The price of sugar ex-mills was Rs 100 per kg on one occasion yesterday, but by last night the price had gone up to Rs 104 per kg.

The price of X-Mills of sugar is also on an upward trend today. The price of X-Mills has further increased by Rs. 1 to Rs. 105.

The wholesale price of sugar with X Mills in Quaid-e-Azam city has reportedly increased from Rs 105 per kg to Rs 108.

According to Farid Qureshi, General Secretary, Karachi Retail Grocers Group, the rate of sugar in the major markets of the city is Rs. 110 to 115 per kg.

He said that there were reports of sugar being sold at Rs. 115 to Rs. 120 in small markets.

On the other hand, the citizens of Lahore say that they are not getting local sugar. Imported sugar is available at Rs. 90 per kg but it is not very sweet.

Vendors in Lahore, the capital of Punjab, say that if local sugar is not available then where to sell it.

According to sugar market dealers, the price of sugar in Lahore has been fixed at Rs 115 per kg, while there is almost no supply of sugar in the wholesale market.

Sugar market dealers in Lahore say that local coarse sugar is still missing from general stores, while imported fine government sugar is available at Rs 90 per kg.

According to sugar dealer Sohail Malik, the shortage will end as soon as the crushing season begins.

According to the Punjab government, the crushing season across the province will start from November 15.

In Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, the price of sugar has been further reduced by Rs 17 per kg.

According to market sources in Quetta, the price of sugar has come down from Rs 140 to Rs 123 per kg. The price of sugar has come down by Rs 37 per kg in three days.

It should be noted that till 3 days ago, the price of sugar in Quetta had reached Rs 160 per kg.

On the other hand, government sugar is available at Rs. 90 per kg in general stores in Peshawar. Citizens are benefiting by buying cheap sugar.
