New Delhi, Jan 16 (PTI) The Delhi High Court on Tuesday pulled up the police and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for failing to stop unauthorized construction near Nizamuddin Ki Baoli and Barakamba Tomb. These monuments are protected by the Center.

The Supreme Court directed the MCD and other officials to ensure that no further construction takes place in the “unauthorized guesthouses” located near the two monuments.

The court said that this construction cannot be done without the consent of the police and civic officials and the court may consider handing over the investigation of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Acting Chief Justice Manmohan Singh and Justice Manmeet PS Arora verbally said, “On the merits, we are of the view that this case warrants a CBI investigation.”
