The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear the petition filed by Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. Hemant Sören had filed this petition against the ED issuing summons to him in the money laundering case. However, Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Bela M Trivedi allowed Hemant Soren to appeal in the Supreme Court.

During the hearing, advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing on behalf of Hemant Soren, argued that this case was entirely a case of deliberate targeting. On this the bench asked Rohatgi why don’t you go to the High Court? We allow you to decline the petition. The bench then dismissed the case. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju participated in the hearing on behalf of the ED.

Let us tell you that ED’s Ranchi office had issued summons to Hemant Soren for questioning in the money laundering case. Hemant Sören was called to record his statement. Sören directed the Supreme Court against this. Earlier, ED had also summoned Hemant Sören for questioning in the defense land fraud case, but Sören had refused to appear before ED citing pre-planned programs.
