ISLAMABAD: Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan’s telethon campaign for the flood victims raised more than 5.5 billion rupees in two and a half hours.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s telethon campaign was attended by politicians, artists and well-known personalities including Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi, former cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq, actress Atiqa Odhu, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Javed Sheikh, Shan Shahid, writer Khalil. Rehman Qamar, singer Salman Ahmed, Abrarul Haque and more were included.
Imran Khan said while speaking that it is a big test in the country right now, the whole country is affected due to flood, that’s why we have decided that the whole country should face the cross-examination of the mill.
Imran Khan said that as a nation we must help our flood victims, join our youth volunteer force and help the victims.
He said we are building a control room through which the volunteers will be guided and directed so that the volunteers can reach the affected.
The former prime minister said there are reports of loss of life that there were more than 1,000 deaths, while economically it has been estimated that more than 1,000 billion have been lost due to floods.
Imran Khan said that he has seen the nation helping the victims of the 2010 flood, and even in this difficult time, the whole nation is with the flood victims and will help them fully.
He said that all the funds that will be received will be spent under the leadership of Sania Nishtar. Our aim is that all the funds collected will be used for the flood victims.
In the telethon campaign, more than 5.5 billion rupees were collected in just two and a half hours.
As always, ARY has been at the forefront of serving Pakistan and President and CEO of ARY Network, Salman Iqbal, has announced a donation of Rs.3 crore.
Senior journalist Sabir Shakir also announced five lakh rupees as relief to the flood victims and said that the situation is not good but still I am getting my share.Due to the closure of ARY News, the stoves of 4 thousand families are going off.
The family of PTI leader Ali Zaidi announced a donation of Rs 10 lakh, his 9-year-old niece donated Rs 50,000 to the cause, while his friends in the US announced a donation of $50,000.
Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shehryar Afridi has also announced Rs.
An overseas Pakistani donated 10 lakh rupees without giving his name, while a Pakistani from America announced a donation of 22 crore rupees.
Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Tanveer Ilyas has announced that he will give 30 million rupees in aid to the flood victims, British-born Pakistani boxer Aamir Khan has also announced that he will give 5 million rupees in aid.
In Imran Khan’s telethon campaign, another overseas Pakistani donated five million rupees to the flood victims.
A Pakistani citizen suspended his retirement program and announced that he would donate one million rupees to flood victims.
Pakistani national Adnan Asad gave two hundred and five million aid to flood victims, Imran Khan said Adnan Asad is my classmate, election commission has called him for foreign funding.
At the end of the telethon campaign, the famous religious scholar Tariq Jameel prayed that Allah will soon avert this calamity and that the damage caused by this flood can be compensated soon.
