The Chief Election Commissioner wrote a letter to the Prime Minister asking for a building for the EVM, i-voting project

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja has written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan seeking location and building of project management unit for use of electronic voting machine, i-voting and technology.

The Chief Election Commissioner wrote in the letter that the Election Commission is taking steps to use technology in the election process. The recruitment of IT professionals for the establishment of the Project Management Unit is in the final stages which will only work for the use of technologies in EVMs, i-voting and selection process.

The Chief Election Commissioner informed the Prime Minister that the services of Project Director, Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager and Information Technology Consultant are being sought for the functional matters of EVM including storage,
Warehousing will look at the networking database but the Election Commission does not have a building. The government should provide space for the project management unit.

The Chief Election Commissioner also sent in the letter proposals for 4 different buildings. He wrote that guest room of Pakistan Academy of Sciences, guest house of PCSI, vacant floor of Ministry of Science and Technology or one of Sir Syed Memorial Society building should be provided. So that the Election Commission can set up a project management unit.
