Islamabad: The Election Commission has decided to hold elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab and has agreed to maintain the election schedule for 54 days.

A meeting of the Election Commission was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commissioner where the decision of the Supreme Court regarding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab elections was considered.

The Election Commission decided to conduct the elections of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab in the light of the Supreme Court order. During the meeting, consultations were held on the proposed dates for both provinces.

According to the sources, the Election Commission agreed to keep the election schedule of 54 days. Ramadan and Eid will also be taken into account in the election date proposal.

There will be a final consultation with the stakeholders on the election date. If the President and the Governor consult, the Election Commission will participate in it.
