The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has issued notification of Social Media Rules 2021.
According to details, Federal Minister for IT Aminul Haq has said that under the amended rules, Pakistani consumers will have full freedom of expression under Article 19. The rules will play an important role in liaising between Pakistani consumers and social media institutions.
He said that social media companies must abide by Pakistani laws and the rights of social media users, live streaming of extremism, terrorism, hate speech, pornography and violent content will be banned. Will be obliged to remove the content.
Federal Minister for IT Amin-ul-Haq has said that advertisement of pornographic material would also be an arrestable crime.
Amin-ul-Haq has said that negative content related to any person will not be uploaded, content related to the private life of others will also be banned, content contrary to the cultural and moral tendencies of Pakistan will be banned.
He said that content related to the mental and physical development and moral destruction of children would be banned and all social media organizations including YouTube, Facebook, Tik Tak, Twitter and Google Plus would be bound by the rules.
Federal Minister for IT Aminul Haq has said that after the issuance of the notification, it will be necessary to set up offices in Pakistan on social media as soon as possible. Social media companies will appoint their authorized officers for Pakistan.
