Real estate entrepreneur Wayne Hayes can’t understand why anyone would waste their hard-earned money on rent, especially in today’s market.
He said: You pay at least a thousand a month and more if you leave new carpets, for what? A four-bed room you bought on a whim for £75,000?
“How can these idiots expect to save the mortgage deposit when they nail it to the wall? What kind of cretin thinks ‘Oh, I’ll pay someone else’s mortgage instead’? And she’s mine?”
“What happened to snapping up vacant homes in the early 1990s, doing them and renting them out as multiple apartments choking out the landscape of the property?
“And what do you get in exchange for rent? Nothing. Except the freedom of living with your parents, lack of maintenance costs and the flexibility to move when you want. It’s a racket.”
Tenant Jack Brown said: “I can either pay £700 a month, plus bills, or live in my own car. It’s a tough call but letting is a slightly better option.”
