the Province begins to apply the third dose of vaccines to health personnel

The Province of Buenos Aires sent the first 261 thousand shifts for the application of the third booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to health personnel and plans to soon include people over 60 years of age.

The Buenos Aires government headed by Axel Kicillof reported that the first shifts for the booster dose were sent through the VacunatePBA application, at the beginning of a new stage of immunization that will also reach older adults who have completed the scheme with first and foremost second dose more than six months ago.

As indicated by the Province, this stage targets more than 532,500 health workers and 2.5 million Buenos Aires residents over 60 years of age, who will be injected with a heterologous dose, that is, a vaccine combined with the one previously applied.

For the new phase of vaccination against the coronavirus, it will not be necessary to re-register, while the shifts will be notified through the VacunatePBA application and the usual channels (email, MiArgentina app, Whatsapp, etc).

The Buenos Aires government indicated that, in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Health Council, it will begin with the inoculation of the population at greatest risk and in order to sustain the capacity of care in the health system.

The announcement was made on the second consecutive day with more than 2,000 registered COVID-19 infections, something that had not happened since last September, and in which the province of Buenos Aires reported 852 positive cases.

To date, the Province has applied more than 14 million first components, while more than 11.4 million Buenos Aires have already completed their primary vaccination schedules, with the two doses. (NA)
