Lahore (Daily Pakistan Online) The Lahore High Court has rejected the request for an immediate injunction to declare the appointment of Qasim Ali Shah as the chairman of the Lahore Arts Council null and void.
According to the private TV channel Express News, there was a hearing against appointing Qasim Ali Shah as the chairman of the board of the Al Hamra Arts Council. Justice Shujaat Ali was hearing the petition filed by Rida Noor Advocate.
The court denied the request for an immediate injunction and requested responses from the parties at the next hearing. Justice Shujaat Ali Khan said Advocate General Punjab should also appear at the next hearing and assist the court.
The application has been submitted on behalf of the citizen Muhammad Ali. In the application, he states that the guardian government has appointed Qasim Ali Shah as the chairman of the Alhamra Art Council for three years. Other board members, including Chief Minister Punjab, have been made parties to the petition.
The petitioner says that the Chief Minister has made appointments to reward the persons he likes. The Chief Minister has no authority to make such an appointment.
In the petition, it has been sought that the appointments of the board members including Qasim Ali Shah be declared invalid and that the warden be restrained from making appointments outside the jurisdiction.
