BEIRUT: A server containing images from 1961 has been stolen from the archives of the state news agency in Lebanon.
According to the foreign news agency, the thieves also stole several computers from Lebanon’s official news agency. Security and legal authorities have begun investigating the incident.
Ziad al-Makari, information minister of Lebanon’s interim government, said what happened is a national crime and will leave no stone unturned in the investigation.

It should be noted that Lebanon has suffered a political crisis in recent months and the local currency, the lira, has lost 95% of its value against the dollar. Many government agencies are facing a shortage of safety and security personnel due to reduced visitor numbers and high transportation costs.
