Three in hospital after crashes in Masham and Whitby Pi News

Emergency services were called to two separate incidents in rural areas of the region on Friday (January 19) evening.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has revealed an increase in accidents on North Yorkshire’s roads as roads become slippery with ice and snow.

The first incident happened at Quy, near Masham, at around 6.20pm and saw a two-vehicle crash.

Crews from Masham and Bedale attended the scene, where one driver of the first vehicle was uninjured when the fire service arrived.

Two women in the second vehicle remained in the vehicle under the supervision of fire and rescue personnel until emergency personnel arrived.

Both women were helped out of the car and taken to hospital by ambulance with what were understood to be minor injuries and shock.

In a second incident, at around 8.50pm in Upgang Lane, Whitby, a vehicle was seen on its roof in the collision.

A male passenger in the vehicle was not restrained and did not exit the vehicle and was under the care of fire and rescue personnel until an ambulance arrived.

This incident was left to the police.
