Hyderabad: The Munugode by-election spells doom for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government led by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president Sanjay Kumar said on Thursday.
“KCR’s game is over and his shop will be closed soon,” Sanjay said while addressing a public gathering at the conclusion of the fourth phase of the Praja Sangram Yatra at Pedda Amberpet on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Stating that the BJP is gearing up to take on the TRS, he said his party is ready to fight even if the TRS joins forces with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM).
“Now is the time for the people of Telangana to decide whether they want democratic or autocratic rule; the government of the poor or feudal lords; and Ram Rajya or Ravana Rajya,” asked Sanjay.
He said the four phases of the padayatra brought him closer to the people and he was deeply moved by the plight of the people. “I am going to embark on the fifth phase of the Praja Sangram Yatra from October 15,” he announced.
Sanjay said that if the BJP comes to power, it will rename Ibrahimpatnam as ‘Veerapatnam’ because of the valor shown by the people of the constituency.
He recalled that the BJP had been fighting for several years to officially celebrate September 17 as “Telangana Liberation Day”.
Due to pressure from the BJP, the TRS was forced to celebrate the day, albeit under the name of ‘national integration day’. “The credit for unfurling the national flag in the old city goes to the BJP,” he said.
Sanjay said that the state intelligence has given a report that the BJP is certain to win the Munugode by-election. “We’re going to add another ‘R’ to our tally in the assembly. Rajagopal Reddy is going to win the election uncontested. KCR is aware of the by-poll results and that is why he is desperately making all kinds of promises to fool SCs and STs,” he said.
Stating that the SCs have full confidence in the BJP, Sanjay said it was his party that installed Ambedkar and appointed 12 SC/ST MLAs as Union ministers. “On the other hand, KCR has cheated Dalits and insulted them. Will he have the guts to make a Dalit chief minister?” he asked.
The BJP president accused the Telangana chief minister of politicizing ST reservations. “When we proposed the name of an ST woman in the presidential elections, the KKR made every effort to defeat her,” he recalled.
Sanjay refuted the TRS claim that if the BJP comes to power, it will do away with welfare schemes. “BJP will never stop any scheme, whether it is introduced by TRS or Congress, if it really benefits the weaker sections. In fact, we will come out with more social security schemes,” he said.
