Twitter shuts down Khamenei’s account for posting a clip simulating Trump’s assassination

ANKARA: The Twitter social networking platform has closed the account of the Iranian leader, Ali Khamenei, for posting a video of a hypothetical assassination of former US President Donald Trump.

Khamenei’s account had published an animated video simulating an assassination of Trump, against the background of his accusation of ordering the assassination of Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani two years ago.

After the video was posted, Twitter suspended Khamenei’s account for “violating Twitter laws.”

The commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, and 10 of their companions were assassinated in a US raid near Baghdad on January 3, 2020.

On January 7, 2021, the Rusafa Investigation Court in Baghdad issued an arrest warrant against former US President Donald Trump, on charges of assassinating the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority and those accompanying them.
