Shaun Breeze, 29, and Martin Breeze, 66, appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court charged with murder and three counts of attempted murder.

It follows an incident on Myton Way in The Rings area of ​​Ingleby Barwick on Friday evening, where a van was “deliberately driven into a group of people” on the road.

Emergency services were called at 11.35pm to reports that a white Citroen Berlingo van appeared to have been deliberately driven towards a group of people on a footpath.

A 60-year-old man died at the scene, two others were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Senior Detective Tempe Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Hollingsworth said: “We are grateful to the public for their patience and co-operation and many officers have been involved as they carry out inquiries and receive information, doorbells, dash cams or CCTV. We are again appealing to anyone with dashcam footage who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch.

Shaun and Martin Breeze appeared in court for the first time on Monday, speaking briefly to confirm their names and addresses.

They were remanded in custody, where they will appear at Teesside Crown Court at 10.30am on February 14.
