Justice Raman, who is set to step down after his retirement on August 26, received a letter on Wednesday from the Law and Justice Minister asking him to appoint his successor.

The Supreme Court’s notification on Wednesday said: “Today (03/08/2022) at 09:30 PM, the Secretariat of the Chief Justice of India received a communication dated 03/08/2022 from the Minister of Law and Justice asking the CJI to succeed him. We received a request to recommend a name.”
