Virat Kohli says goodbye to Test cricket captaincy. Announced this as a social media platform. Shared a message on Twitter. Earlier in the day, he resigned from the T20 cricket captaincy. Kohli made the decision after suffering a humiliating defeat in the recent Test series against South Africa.
I worked tirelessly for 7 years to lead TeamIndia in the right direction. I have done my duty with justice and honesty. Every task has an end. As far as I am concerned TeamIndia Test captaincy think that is the end. During this journey I encountered many ups and downs. I never lost faith. I wanted to give 120 percent on each task. That’s why I worked desperately.
I want to hear what my mind says. I always wanted to be honest with my team. I thank the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for giving me the opportunity to captain for so many years. I would also like to thank all the team mates for putting my vision into practice. I am a supporter of the team every day. Defeat was not accepted at any time. All the team mates left a fond memory of this journey for me, ”said Virat Kohli.
‘I have had a lot of support when I was in charge. Ravi Shastri and many others led me from behind to take Test cricket forward. I worked hard to put my vision into practice. It was MS Dhoni who recognized me for taking Indian cricket forward. He had a lot of faith in me as a captain. “Big thank you to Dhoni,” Kohli said.
