Addressing the inaugural function of Media Fellowship in Karachi, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that violence against women is a serious issue and we have to go to such sisters and daughters for redressal.

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail attended the inaugural ceremony of the Media Fellowship at a local hotel in Karachi as a special guest, which was organized by the National Commission on the Status of Women.

He said that it was the responsibility of the concerned agencies to ensure security measures for the citizens coming to the courts.

The Sindh governor said that arrangements were being made for the release of women who had completed their sentences in jails and were imprisoned only for non-payment of fines.

He directed the IG Prisons to keep in touch with Nilufer Bakhtiar to prepare a list so that the release of these women prisoners would be possible after payment of fines.

Earlier, Chairperson National Commission on the Status of Women Nilufer Bakhtiar, while addressing the function, said that 35 journalists from across the country would be trained to analyze work on women’s rights.

He said that today, November 25, is celebrated as “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women”.

He added that his paintings were also on display to encourage female inmates in the jail.
