Violet Brigades: Services for women who suffer violence

Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal launched the Violet Brigades, a scheme that began simultaneously in the 106 municipalities of the state and through which the orientation services and timely comprehensive care that the State Secretariat for Women (Semujeres) are made known. and the municipal Institutes offer women, girls and adolescents to prevent and address violence against this sector of the population, as indicated in a statement.

Together with the head of the State Secretariat for Women, María Cristina Castillo Espinosa, Vila Dosal began distributing informative material in the streets, shops and houses of Motul, Conkal and Yaxkukul, where she also invited the inhabitants to approach the Municipal Institutes to stay informed and learn how to prevent this type of behavior.


The objective of the Violeta Brigades, in which personnel from state government agencies, town halls and municipal authorities participate, is to promote free programs and services for violence prevention and attention that are provided in the 30 Violeta Regional Centers and the 106 Municipal Institutes.

In Motul, the governor, accompanied by the host mayor, Roger Aguilar Arroyo, inaugurated the Municipal Institute for Women, which is the result of the request he made to the 106 municipalities to form these instances, joining efforts to prevent, address and eradicate gender violence. in the entity.

This institute joins the Violeta Regional Center of the State Secretariat for Women that operates in this demarcation and provides care to people from Baca, Cacalchén, Cansahcab, Dzidzantún, Dzilam de Bravo, Dzilam González, Mocochá, Motul, Muxupip, Sinanché , Suma, Telchac Puerto, Telchac Pueblo, Temax, Yobain and Buctzotz.

In this sense, María Cristina Castillo explained that during 2021, more than 34,000 comprehensive and free legal, psychological and social work services were provided to Yucatecans in situations of violence, through these units, where women are now received. , girls and adolescents.

Subsequently, the Governor and the Secretary for Women moved to Yaxkukul, where together with Mayor William Jesús Gorocica Falcón, they launched the Municipal Institute for Women.

Similarly, Vila Dosal and the head of the State Secretariat for Social Development (Sedesol), Roger Torres Peniche, made a supervision visit to the office of the “24/7 Doctor” program in the same demarcation.

The objective was to verify the supply of medicines and they reported that in approximately six months they will have ultrasound equipment to offer better care, mainly to pregnant women.

The governor asked the doctors and staff who work there for their support to channel women, girls or adolescents who detect that they suffer some type of violence to the Municipal Instances, so that they are offered the legal, psychological and social help they need. them and their families.
