The padlocked grave, whose image was linked by Indian media to increasing necrophilia cases in Pakistan, is actually from a cemetery in the Indian state of Hyderabad, TV channel 24NewsHD reported on Monday.
The Indian media reports claimed that the photo was from Pakistan and added that parents in Pakistan had locked their daughters’ graves to prevent them from being raped.
Several major news organizations in India like ANI, Times of India, News18, Times Now, NDTV and The Print broadcast the news with the same image. The picture had also been widely circulated on social media.
