Where there are elections, there are strict restrictions, not on the Rally Road show

Political parties have been given conditional permission for indoor meetings. Meetings can be held in the presence of a maximum of 300 people or 50 per cent of the hall capacity.

The Election Commission (EC) has tightened its grip on assembly elections in five states. The commission will continue to hold rallies and road shows until the 22nd of next month. But meetings are allowed but. The cut-off is set to end today and will be extended to the 22nd.

Political parties have been given conditional permission for indoor meetings. Meetings can be held in the presence of a maximum of 300 people or 50 per cent of the hall capacity. The Election Commission, however, has directed the concerned state governments and district administrations to monitor whether the election code of conduct and covert cuts are being followed properly.

Elections will be held in five states, Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, in four phases from February 10 to March 8. The vote will be counted on March 10. Meanwhile, after the Central Election Commission (CEC) extended the deadline for five states, the state Election Commission is now looking into what steps the panchayat elections may take in Odisha.
