TORONTO – Factory Theater’s “Wildfire” was the top winner in the general theater division at the Dora Mavor Moore Awards.

Dark comedy won prizes for best production, best new play, and best directing at a ceremony at Toronto’s Elgin and Winter Garden Theater Center.

Presented by the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts, Doras handed out a total of 46 awards Monday for excellence in local theatre, dance and opera.

Talk is Free Theater “Sweeney Todd” led the music division with wins in five categories, including best production, best direction and best original choreography.

Tapestry Opera’s science fiction composition “RUR A Torrent of Light” won six awards, while Bad New Days’ production of “Italian Mime Suicide” swept five categories in the independent theater division.

“In My Body,” which was performed by dance Immersion, Canadian Stage and TO Live, won four awards in the dance division.
