The Cave of Death in Costa Rica, Central America, is deadly to any creature that enters it.

Known as the Cave of Death, this place is located on a small mountain in the Recreo Verde tourist complex in Venezia de San Carlos, Costa Rica.

The reason it is called a death cave is because of its ability to cause death to any creature that enters it.

Located on the side of the Poas Volcano, La Cueva de la Moret is a two meter deep and three meter long cave that is a cozy haven for insects, birds and small animals.

But its appearance is actually a deception, because as soon as the creature enters it, it is immediately killed.

However, it is full of carbon monoxide, a colorless, tasteless gas that is highly toxic. To demonstrate its mortality, the local guides light a torch and place it in the cave, but it immediately goes out because there is no oxygen at all and a lot of carbon dioxide.

No one knows where so much carbon dioxide comes from in this cave. However, scientists say that the organic gas released from the mineral deposits here creates a lot of heat, which eliminates the presence of oxygen.
