Kumar said India’s electoral sector is unique as neither voter registration is mandatory nor voting is compulsory. Therefore, it is important that the Electoral Commission invites people to voluntarily register themselves in the voters’ list. Then work confidently to persuade them to exercise their right to consent through a systematic voter awareness program.
