A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 was felt in the eastern coastal region of Taiwan.

According to a foreign news agency, Taiwanese authorities said that buildings in the capital city of Taipei shook due to the intensity of the earthquake that occurred on Friday.

They say the depth of the earthquake, which struck Hualien County on Taiwan’s east coast, was recorded at 10km, with no immediate reports of damage.

It should be noted that since the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Hualien last month, Taiwan has suffered about 1,400 aftershocks, killing 17 people.
