Kabul: Over the past three days, heavy rains and floods have killed 33 people and injured more than 27 in Afghanistan.

According to a report by the AFP news agency, the Afghan government’s disaster management department said there had been heavy casualties in the country over the past three days, with 33 people killed.

Disaster Management Spokesman Janan Sayeeq said the rains that started on Friday led to flooding that resulted in widespread loss of life and property.

He said preliminary information showed that 33 people had lost their lives and another 27 people had been injured in the floods.

Janan Sayeeq said most of the deaths were caused by house roofs collapsing, with 600 houses damaged or completely destroyed, 600 kilometers of roads destroyed and 2,000 acres of farmland flooded.

20 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces experienced heavy rains after an unexpectedly dry spell, delaying farmers from starting work and increasing the risk of drought.

It should be noted that 25 people died during snowfall in Afghanistan in February this year and 60 deaths were reported in three weeks in March.

Last year, the United Nations warned that climate change would have the worst consequences in Afghanistan.

The scientists said that the reason for the unexpected changes in the weather is global climate change, which has also affected Afghanistan, which has been in a state of war for 4 decades, which is the least prepared country to handle these changes.
