Contempt of court notices issued to IB, FIA, PTA chief

Islamabad High Court In the case of the audio leak, the DGIB, DGFIA and PTA chairman were made to face contempt of court notices and the three institutions were fined five lakh rupees.

The Islamabad High Court dismissed the applications filed by the IB, FIA and Pemra against Justice Babar Sattar as malicious and wrote in the judgment that the application was filed by the three agencies as part of pressure on the judge.

The ruling read that if you are satisfied, why should contempt of court proceedings be initiated against the heads of the three institutions?

In addition, Justice Babar Sattar also issued a 40-page judgment on all four objections against the judge, saying that the objections from the hearing of the case were malicious.

FI, IB, PEMRA and PTA submitted applications under one scheme jointly. All four organizations tried to pressure the judge through their petitions.

In the judgment, it was written that the court gives full opportunity to the parties on the issue of wiretapping citizens’ phones. In the meantime, it has come to court that the federal government is not competent to grant basic constitutional rights to citizens.
