ISLAMABAD: The Wheat Import Scam Investigation Committee on Sunday also summoned the former Interim Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar.
According to sources, the investigative committee of the wheat scandal summoned the former temporary minister of foreign affairs, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar. Former Food Minister Muhammad Asif recorded his statement before the inquiry committee on Saturday.
It may be recalled that the inquiry committee formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is headed by Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal’s cabinet department. The committee will present its report on Monday.
It is to be noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had formed an inquiry committee two days ago regarding wheat import.
A meeting was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the status of wheat stocks. In which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the secretary’s cabinet department will be headed by an inquiry committee. Farmers should soon be paid for their work.

Shahbaz Sharif last year asked about wheat imports from the Ministry of National Food Security.
He said that despite the good production of wheat last year, the decision to import wheat was taken for certain reasons. By the grace and mercy of Allah, there has been a huge crop of wheat this year. It should be ensured that there is no delay in the purchase of wheat and all necessary steps should be taken regarding the purchase of wheat.
